In-home euthanasia

Vet in the Valley offers peaceful euthanasia in the comfort of your own home. Euthanasia is a very peaceful process. We ensure that everything is done to make your pet’s farewell as smooth and stress-free as possible. We routinely provide sedation prior to the procedure, then placing an intravenous catheter before administering the final medication. We pride ourselves on giving the family as much time as required at each stage of the process. We aren’t going to rush you.

Choosing a home euthanasia for your pet saves you and them the added stress of travelling to a veterinary clinic where there are negative and stressful smells and experiences. It allows you to say farewell in the place they know and love best - whether that is in their favourite spot in the garden, comfort chair or on your lap. Saying goodbye to your pet at home has a number of benefits for you and your pet which include; long appointment times which allows our veterinarians to progress at the pace you are comfortable, no limit on attendees, the presence of other household pets and the ability to grieve for your pet in peace. We endeavour to provide same day euthanasia services, as we aim to make these hard decisions as easy and smooth as possible.

We have a number of aftercare options which includes at home burial, organising cremation services or alternatively we can make arrangements.

If you are not sure that it’s time for euthanasia, you can book a quality of life assessment. Our friendly, down-to-earth, and compassionate veterinarians will assess your animals vital signs, overall body condition, levels of pain, discomfort, mobility, illnesses and other welfare related issues. They will advise you whether your dog is suffering or not and help you and your family make a plan for your pet, which may or may not be making a end of life decision.
