End of Life Service

At home euthanasia

Vet in the Valley offers in home end-of life services and end of life counselling. We know making these decision is tough, and heart breaking, and we are willing to talk you through any reservations and ensure you and your family have make an informed decision. Vet in the Valley can provide, a quality of life assessment hand out. Ultimately it asks, you, the owner, to look at several categories including - hurt, hunger, hydration, hygiene, happiness, mobility and finally more good days than bad. Your assessment, of these categories will help you make a subjective assessment of your pets quality of life.

Why pick in-home euthanasia? It means that your pet is comfortable, relaxed in their own bed, or favourite spot, arm chair or cuddled in your arms. There is no time limit for you to vacate a room, and walk through a waiting room of people. We make it simple, as stress free as possible, and allow you the time you need to say goodbye.

We can advise you on at-home burials or can arrange cremation with Pets at Rest Crematorium or Ecopet Cremation at your request. If you would like more information or to talk through the procedure with one of our vets please contact us on office@vetinthevalley.com

The Procedure - In the event that a euthanasia decision is made, our mobile vets will seek your written consent. If this is pre-planned the consent form is emailed through to you. Once consent has been obtained, we will sedate the animal. After a short period, the animal is nice and relaxed. We then place a needle into the animal, and once you are all ready, we administer the solution. This generally is very quick and peaceful.
